Hamburg adopts temporary moratorium on solar and battery storage systems

NY HAMBURG — Hamburg Town Board unanimously approves twelve-month moratorium on battery energy storage systems and Tier 2 and Tier 3 solar facilities. The ban, effective immediately, protects applications received before April 13, 2026, and allows the Code Review Committee time to update regulations adopted in 2020 and 2021; public hearing set for May 4, 2026 at 7 p.m. Board also approved new Article LX smoke shop and vape shop regulations moving to same May 4 hearing, following resident complaints.

Dog Shelter Lease Agreement Addendum with Eden Veterinary Clinic approved, increasing boarding fees to 40 dollars daily effective April 1, 2026, for expanded medical and regulatory compliance services now required by New York State Agriculture and Markets Law. Supervisor Elizabeth Farrell Lorentz designated Responsible Local Official and Finance Director Patrick Shea as EBO Administrator for state equitable business opportunities reporting.
